Dear colleagues and friends!

We are glad to announce the Fifth Eastern European Conference for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs “Rare Diseases in the Focus of Personalized Medicine” and the First All-Russian Conference for Rare Diseases and Rarely Used Medical Technologies “Lifeline”,  taking place in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) on 2-4 July 2010.

Personalized medicine and rare diseases are new emerging issues that attracts attention of different stakeholders worlwide. Taking into account the great success of previous Eastern European conferences in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009, this time we decided to broaden the theme and open the boarders, thus to establish this event as the leading forum on rare diseases in the region.

We expect that the conference will bring together about 500 leading scientists, medical professionals, patient organisations, policy makers and industry representatives from Russia, Europe, Asia and America. Three panel sessions will target important issues as personalized medicine and rare diseases, sharing best practices and future challenges. More than 12 workshops for medical professionals and patient organizations will increase participants knolwedge and provide unique atmoshpere for establishing personal contacts and collaboration. A conference memorandum is expected to be discuss and accepted at the end of the conference, thus bridging participants ideas with governmental intentions towards adopting rare disease policies in Eastern European countries.
